Okay so here goes. I am a little bit of an oxymoron when it comes to abortion. First of all, I am against late term abortion under ANY circumstance. That being said, I am against abortion for myself and I would strongly encourage my daughters to seek other options. However, I do not want to make abortions illegal and I do not want our government and tax money paying for them. If a person wants to abort, then they need to pay for it themselves. It bothers me that women who want children find out their pregnant and refer to it as having a baby but women who do not want children refer to it as a fetus. I have never been pregnant with a fetus. I never announced that I was with fetus. I was always having a baby. Another thing, I do not think that it should be made legal for a young girl---under the age of 18---to have an abortion without parental consent. If I have to sign waivers for any proceedure, then why does the government want to waive parental rights. Again, I stress here that I am not for making abortions illegal. That would create complications too. I think it boils down to a moral choice for a woman. Can she live with the decision that she has made. And the decision is a huge one. Personally, I could not live with myself and the thoughts of what could have been. J. U.
ReplyDeleteMy personal view on this issue is that I believe that if you are above legal age and can physically have the child with no dangerous complications, you should. There are soooo many childless couples out there who are struggling to conceive and some of them just can't and it is heartbreaking. Now a woman who is pregnant with a child she, for some reason or other, cannot take on in her life can go to an adoption agency and actually pick out the parents of her child and get to know them so that she can be assured that her child will go to a loving family. That being said, I do NOT believe that abortion should be made illegal. I feel that if the pregnancy is a danger to the mother (especially young mothers) and or the child, you have to do what you have to do. I had a friend who was raped as a little girl (age 10 actually) and she conceived from the attack. Her mother threatened to disownher if she had an abortion, so my friend carried the baby to term and gave it up for adoption. The pregnancy was hard on her, she developed several health problems and had the baby very prematurely. She is now 21 and as a result of that first pregnancy, she can no longer have children. She also has developed several cancers from theovergrowth of scar tissue from the rape and premature birth. Having said that, I do not think that i could ever have an abortion, but it should be available to those whose bodies would deteriorate or outright reject the baby.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very sad sad and heart renching disicion a woman must make. but it is hers and hers alone. we as woman need to stand behind any discion that is made and place your selves in that place,I have been through this with one of my friends, and not only was it hard physcaly hard but it is still hard on her mentaly.I say that abortions have been proformed for millions of years(unsafely)thousand of woman have died or gave birth to countless number of unwanted children, some of these children got lucky and were adopted out but most were abused and reminded how unwanter that they were.I would rather pay for the abortion, then to pay to put that child in prison
